Abstract

In order to help rural areas of Ecuador that have difficulties in accessing medical facilities, it is proposed to provide health services on a temporary basis through the design of a Modular Hospital Infrastructure. The main idea of this project is based on the transfer of a health unit to people who live in areas of difficult access; and after a while, move to another location. In order to achieve this objective, it has been determined with the help of health experts, which areas and spaces this center would need to be functional and favor the greatest number of patients at each point. Based on this information, it was concluded that modules are needed that allow minor surgeries to be performed and that have the capacity to adapt to the terrain and climate of each region. In terms of mobility, the infrastructure should be able to be transported along complicated roads with the least possible use of external machinery. In addition, these modules must be designed to be assembled as intuitively and quickly as possible. Finally, it is estimated that thanks to this design it will be possible to better distribute medicine throughout Ecuador, help during emergencies and provide practice and education spaces for future health professionals.
