Revitalización de Espacios de encuentro mediante criterios interculturales en la parroquia Rocafuerte de Guayaquil

Abstract

The revitalization of meeting spaces in the Rocafuerte parish of Guayaquil seeks to strengthen social cohesion, security and cultural identity through the integration of intercultural criteria. This approach responds to problems such as the deterioration of infrastructure, insecurity and the abandonment of public spaces that affect the quality of life and the economic dynamism of the sector. Recognized for its historical richness and the influence of migrant communities, especially the Asian one, the Rocafuerte parish offers an opportunity to integrate architectural and cultural elements that promote harmonious coexistence and reinforce local identity. The analysis of public space highlights its importance as a driver of social interaction and community development, considering its key role in economic and cultural recovery. The research combines qualitative and quantitative methods to identify the needs and perceptions of the community, guiding urban design proposals based on sustainability, accessibility and safety. These strategies not only seek to rehabilitate the physical environment, but also reactivate the local economy by opening businesses and promoting cultural activities. The integration of intercultural criteria in urban revitalization allows addressing the social and urban challenges of the Rocafuerte parish, positioning it as a representative space of diversity and sustainable development in Guayaquil.
