Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the application of critical pedagogy on the development of critical skills in high school students at Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional San Cristóbal, in the Galápagos province. A mixed methodology was used, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. Surveys were applied to students and teachers, semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers, and direct classroom observation was carried out. The results showed that critical pedagogy promotes the development of reflective and autonomous thinking in students, although its implementation faces challenges such as resistance to change and lack of teacher training. It is concluded that critical pedagogy is an effective strategy to strengthen students’ critical skills, but it requires an adequate environment and continuous teacher training for its proper application.

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el impacto de la aplicación de la pedagogía crítica en el desarrollo de habilidades críticas en los estudiantes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional San Cristóbal, en la provincia de Galápagos. Se utilizó una metodología mixta, combinando enfoques cualitativos y cuantitativos. Se aplicaron encuestas a estudiantes y docentes, entrevistas semiestructuradas a profesores y observación directa en el aula. Los resultados evidenciaron que la pedagogía crítica favorece el desarrollo del pensamiento reflexivo y autónomo en los estudiantes, aunque su implementación enfrenta desafíos como la resistencia al cambio y la falta de capacitación docente. Se concluye que la pedagogía crítica es una estrategia efectiva para fortalecer las habilidades críticas en los estudiantes, pero requiere un entorno adecuado y una formación docente continua para su correcta aplicación.
