HABITO DE LECTURA Y SU INCIDENCIA EN LA COMPRENSIÓN LECTORA EN ESTUDIANTES DE NOVENO DE BÁSICA

Abstract

Reading is of great importance to society; since communication is the most widely used medium by human beings, it is necessary to understand what is expressed. Therefore, this project is based on the formation of reading habits in students, which requires family, personal, and educational motivation. There are various means to foster an interest in reading, but fundamental to this is the commitment of educators to help and guide students in developing their own interest and love for reading, in order to cultivate individuals capable of effortlessly navigating topics of global interest. This research study was conducted at the "Severo Mata Becerra" Mixed Public School, focusing under a qualitative paradigm through which the deficiencies that arise from lacking good reading habits were determined. With this background, the study was carried out with Upper Basic Education students regarding reading habits, conducting surveys among students and teachers at the institution, which made it possible to identify that reading habits are lacking both at home and at school. Reading habits are a practice acquired through repetition marked by custom or frequent reading practices; reading not only provides information, but also creates habits of reflection and analysis, while entertaining, bringing enjoyment, and distracting, which helps us develop and refine language by increasing vocabulary, improving writing, and making speech more fluent.
