LA LEY DE ECONOMIA POPULAR Y SOLIDARIA EN EL SECTOR DE LOS PEQUEÑOS ARROCEROS DE PROVINCIA DE LOS RÍOS.

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to analyze the applicability of the Popular and Common Economic Law, for the Economic development of small rice farmers in the the province of Los Rios. Through this paper have been evaluated, the most vulnerable points of the rice sector, as well as government supports ,most of the time insufficient. Factors that affect production are evaluated and possible solutions are mention. For the purpose of this paper small rice farmers are defined as those who have an area between 1.and 3 hectares, which individually are nor economic and socially viable. It also identifies, the benefits that the law provides and the different alternatives it brings to create new business models, that would bring an increase in productivity levels as well as a better standard of living through cooperativism. Additionally it is shown successful business models of cooperatives in other countries and are taken into consideration all the actors that intervene in the improvement of the conditions of small farmers.
