Item Residencia Deportiva para Jóvenes en Formativas de Fútbol en Guayaquil, Ecuador(0021-01-01) Juan E. Taleb ZambranoIn the current year 2024, the youth of Ecuador, especially in the city of Guayaquil, is directly affected by insecurity in the streets caused by corruption, socio-economic inequality, and drug trafficking. This situation hampers the development of new generations, as an increasing number of youths are getting involved in criminal activities, diverting them from their studies. Simultaneously, the football clubs and academies in the city of Guayaquil lack proper structuring of their youth development programs and the necessary infrastructure. This lack of organization makes it uncertain that children facing economic instability receive housing, health, and education. Teams from the Sierra region, such as Independiente del Valle and Liga de Quito, have demonstrated through their local and international successes in recent years that investing in infrastructure for youth categories yields long-term results. The proposal for a sports residence in Guayaquil aims to provide housing and an integral formation to youths belonging to football academies. This approach allows them to develop values and knowledge that prepare them for a professional life within or outside of football. The methodology employed is based on gathering information through research, interviews, surveys, and the analysis of analogous cases.Item Diseño Arquitectónico de un Centro Comercial de Uso Mixto con Criterios Bioclimáticos en Isla Mocolí(2024-04-01) Francisco MassuhThe main problem in Isla Mocoli is the lack of mixed-use buildings that meet the needs of residents and visitors. Prioritizing cars over pedestrians contributes to a lack of spaces for social integration. Additionally, the disregard for climate in projects results in high energy consumption in constructions. The implementation of bioclimatic solutions aims to improve living conditions and energy efficiency. Solar incidence and the proper choice of materials are essential factors. In Guayaquil, excessive heat affects health and well-being, emphasizing the importance of bioclimatic architecture for creating sustainable and healthy environments in the long term.Item Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro Deportivo y Recreativo en el cantón La Concordia, Ecuador Centro(2024-03-01) Javier Vinicio Cedeño CoppianoRegular practice of sports is essential to maintain good physical and mental health, but, despite its importance in daily life, there is a low rate of people who practice sports or perform physical activity; and the lack of sports and recreational spaces is one of the main reasons for this problem. This is reflected in the La Concordia canton, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador, where this research was carried out. It is claimed that La Concordia does not have adequate spaces to practice sports, which affects the physical, mental and social state of the community. Given this problem, the proposal for the design of a sports and recreational center that harmonizes sports practice with leisure and recreation spaces is presented to promote an active lifestyle and strengthen social cohesion among the inhabitants of La Concordia. The proposal is supported by the exploration of different concepts related to sports, sports centers, recreational and inclusive spaces; and it was determined that the project is based on a sports architecture that promotes the right to carry out any physical and recreational activity in a safe and accessible space for all people. Likewise, analogous case studies were analyzed to identify design criteria as a reference in the formal and functional proposal of the project. Finally, an investigative methodology was developed with qualitative and quantitative tools to understand in greater depth the needs of citizens and the sector in order to apply them to the design of the proposal.Item CENTRO INTEGRAL DE REHABILITACIÓN DE NARCÓTICOS(2024-01-01) JOSEPH MATTHEWS NARANJO MATUTEThe design of a comprehensive drug rehabilitation center arises as a solution to the current issues surrounding drug dependency in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and how these affect the community. Additionally, individuals seeking to overcome addiction face a lack of resources and suitable spaces for receiving treatment and rehabilitation. To address these concerns, extensive research was conducted on the causes and consequences of addiction, as well as the most effective rehabilitation approaches. Based on these findings, the architectural project will be located in the Bastión Popular neighborhood of Guayaquil, where the need for rehabilitation services is high. Using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, data was collected on the community's perception of the addiction problem and its rehabilitation needs. The architectural proposal aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment that promotes the recovery and social reintegration of patients. It focuses on providing individualized and group treatment spaces, as well as recreational and work areas to foster holistic recovery for patients. The design is based on principles of accessibility, safety, and well-being, in order to provide a conducive environment for rehabilitation and personal growth for those seeking to overcome addiction.Item CENTRO DE PSICOTRAUMATOLOGÍA Y DE TERAPIAS COMPLEMENTARIAS EN EL SUR DE LA CIUDAD DE GUAYAQUIL EN ECUADOR(2024-12-01) MARIÉ BELÉN GONZÁLEZ FREIREThe demand for psychological care has been increasing over the years for various reasons such as crime, traumatic events and even the loss of loved ones; a situation present in Ecuador, a high-risk country, which is affected in several aspects, including psychologically. The mental health landscape in Ecuador reveals a growing demand for services, evidenced by the saturation of private specialized hospitals and the lack of public centers. Although there are private initiatives, such as the Institute of Neurosciences, that serve thousands of patients a month, accessibility remains a challenge for many, especially in the public system. The purpose of the research in this document is to argue the need to make a proposal for the design of a Psych traumatology center that provides complementary therapies and that is in the south of Guayaquil, providing a wellness area to the community of this sector, being one of the most affected, and that lacks this type of specialized care. It is important to create spaces that provide harmony and security to deal with the ravages left by one of the most latent problems in the country, such as violence, and that promote various opportunities to fight mental health through complementary therapies to psychological therapy. A good community requires good mental health by allowing us to develop adequately daily; by having social skills in a good condition people can carry out various activities and challenges.Item REVITALIZACIÓN DEL ESPACIO PÚBLICO DE SANTA CRUZ: PROPUESTA DE AMPLIACIÓN DEL MALECÓN DE PUERTO AYORA(2024-12-01) GUERRERO CABEZAS ADRIANA LIBERTADThe Galápagos Islands represent a significant milestone in national tourism year after year, attracting a large number of visitors, most of whom choose Santa Cruz as their destination. This underscores the need to develop an iconic and accessible public space that meets sustainability criteria, creating a seamless connection between the town of Puerto Ayora and the surrounding natural environment. The project focuses on the proposed expansion of the Santa Cruz boardwalk, incorporating new recreational and entertainment spaces, enhancing the coastal frontage, and integrating green areas. To achieve this goal, a thorough analysis of the area was conducted, along with the study of analogous cases and relevant information that contributed to defining the necessary criteria for designing the boardwalk.Item HOGAR FLOR DEL SOLDiseño de un Refugio Urbano para el Apoyo y Desarrollo de las Familias Nativas y Extranjerascon Enfoque en la Infancia en el Centro de Guayaquil(2024-12-01) ICAZA CAMPOZANO ALEJANDRAIn the heart of Guayaquil, the streets tell stories of struggle, hope, and resilience. Urbangrowth has brought deep challenges that affect those who need it most: native andforeign families in vulnerable situations, especially children, whose future depends onthe opportunities we can provide today. This project is born as an act of humanity and vision, proposing an urban refuge that isnot just a shelter, but a home. A space where families can find support, rebuild theirlives, and dream again. With a focus on children, we aim to ensure that every childgrows up in an environment of care, dignity, and love. Because every life matters, andtogether we can build a more inclusive, compassionate, and hopeful Guayaquil.Item PROTOTIPOS SOSTENIBLES DE VIVIENDAS MULTIFAMILIARES PROGRESIVAS DE INTERÉS SOCIAL EN GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR(2024-05-01) DANIEL EDUARDO MOREIRA CORNEJOThis study addresses the housing deficit and the poverty problem in Guayaquil, Ecuador, by proposing prototypes of sustainable, progressive, and social interest multifamily housing. The city faces a shortage of approximately 200,000 housing units, the result of population growth and the lack of private sector participation in social projects. A survey conducted among a low-income group reveals incomes of $300 to $450 in large households that are overcrowded. 30% of these households seek to start informal businesses or neighborhood stores. The preference for specific areas in the home such as bedrooms and living rooms, and the desire for future expansions, highlight the need for adaptable and progressive housing. This study proposes three prototypes of progressive housing that address the specific demands of low-income families, promote social cohesion, and are efficient and sustainable over time. The proposal seeks not only to solve the housing deficit but also to improve living conditions and offer opportunities for sustainable growth. With a focus on sustainability and functionality, the aim is to make the most of the land allocated for social housing, providing a comprehensive response to the housing and economic needs of Ecuadorian families.Item Centro Intergeneracional: Áreas de integración de adultos mayores y niños(2024-08-01) CASTRO ALAVA DANIELA ELIETTEThis research has an architectural and social approach, aimed at the elderly and children in Guayaquil, Ecuador, with the purpose of designing an intergenerational center that fosters interaction, mutual respect, and the transmission of values between generations. To achieve this, a mixed-method approach was used, including needs analysis through surveys, interviews, and focus groups, along with site studies and the review of analogous projects as references. This project addresses the issues of social exclusion, generational gaps, and insufficient infrastructure for the elderly in the city, aiming to promote the emotional and social well-being of users while alleviating the burden on their families. The design incorporates principles of sustainability, universal accessibility, and eco-friendly strategies, such as renewable energy systems and biophilic design, aligning with Ecuador’s legal framework that prioritizes the rights of the elderly and children. This center seeks to become an inclusive, functional, and culturally significant space to strengthen social cohesion and improve the quality of life for the generations involved.Item HOTEL SOSTENIBLE EN LAS TUNAS, MANABÍ QUE IMPULSA LA VALORIZACIÓN DEL ARTE LOCAL PARA EL DESARROLLO ECONÓMICO(2024-12-01) ALCOSER SERRANO BRITTANY DANIELAThe establishment of a hotel that promotes local economy and values art in Las Tunas, Manabí, represents a significant opportunity to integrate economic development with environmental and cultural sustainability. This project proposes a tourism model that, through ecological architectural design, creates spaces for the promotion and commercialization of local art, contributing to the appreciation of Manabí’s culture. According to Arroyo (2018), "cultural and adventure tourism offers significant potential for the development of local communities," justifying the inclusion of workshops, permanent exhibitions, and sales points for regional artisans. The hotel will function as a dynamic cultural center, allowing visitors to engage in artistic experiences such as ceramics, painting, sculpture, and other traditional expressions. This synergy between tourists and the community will foster a cultural exchange that strengthens Manabí's identity and enhances the region's tourist appeal. Regarding sustainability, the project adopts a holistic approach by incorporating local and renewable materials in construction, alongside efficient management of water and energy resources. This strategy aligns with international policies for responsible and sustainable tourism, contributing to the preservation of the natural environment and the strengthening of the region's circular economy. The hotel will implement environmental awareness programs for guests and ecological activities, such as marine wildlife observation and coastal reforestation. With these elements, the hotel not only stimulates the local economy but also positions itself as a reference point for sustainable tourism in Manabí. By integrating local art, sustainability, and economic development, this project aims to meet the needs of the tourist market while enhancing community well-being and preserving its cultural identity.Item Propuesta de un máster plan de soportales para fomentar la conectividad del recorrido peatonal en el casco histórico de la ciudad de Guayaquil(2024-04-01) ALARCÓN TAPIA GABRIELA ALEJANDRAThe city of Guayaquil, specifically the city center, has an extensive history that over the years has been forgotten bythe majority of its citizens and this is reflected in how Guayaquileños treat the different existing spaces; as are the cityarcades. Currently, the Porticoes of the historic center are going through a difficult time; most citizens are not awareof the architectural heritage that exists in the city, for that reason they neglect the Soportales, using them in aninappropriate way or simply not taking care of them; adding to that, the problem of lack of public spaces and greenareas in the city center. In this way, the study of Soportales and the creation of criteria that provide strategies forimproving spaces could be carried out. All this with the use of qualitative and quantitative tools that allow us to knowthe needs of citizens. Based on this, the connectivity proposal of Soportales is supported, through the creation ofsquares and pedestrian streets that favor the citizens, commerce and tourism of the city; as well as managing to changethe urban image of the city of Guayaquil.Item PROPUESTA DE DISEÑO DE UN PARQUE URBANO PARA EL SECTOR LA PUNTILLA – SAMBORONDÓN(2024-02-01) ASHLEY ORTEGA ANDRADEAt present, in the La Puntilla sector there is a shortage of recreational places such as urban parks and public spaces, which leads to the disintegration of the inhabitants. This is reflected in the present investigation, which is located in La Puntilla-Samborondón. With the help of the exploration of the concepts of urban park, recreational activities and public space, the guideline was determined to make a functional and formal design adequate for the enjoyment and welfare of the inhabitants of the sector. In addition, with the help of research methodology with qualitative and quantitative tools, the needs of the local community will be known in detail and the proposal for the urban park will meet their needs. Based on this, the proposal to design an urban park for the urban regeneration of the La Puntilla-Samborondon sector, which includes recreational and green areas, promoting social and urban benefits that improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and strengthen the urban environment, is presented.Item CENTRO COMUNITARIO RECREATIVO DE ARTE, CULTURA Y EMPRENDIMIENTO En la parroquia La Aurora, Daule(2024-12-01) Arianna Chiriguaya CalderónIn Ecuador, one of the main challenges is the imbalance in the distribution and shortage of cultural and community equipment throughout the territory. In particular, the canton of Daule, in the province of Guayas, faces this problem, exacerbated by accelerated population and urban growth in the last thirty years, especially in La Aurora due to the conurbation with Guayaquil. This growth has generated an increase in the needs of the population, especially in terms of sociocultural equipment and job opportunities. Furthermore, the lack of public spaces and recreational centers, along with the trend toward closed citadels, contributes to social fragmentation and lack of community integration. Against this background, the architectural design of a Recreational Community Center for Art, Culture and Entrepreneurship is proposed, with the objective of strengthening community relations, promoting cultural activities and providing opportunities for learning trades to contribute to the local economy. Along with a research method where theoretical and empirical techniques will be applied to collect data and information that will give way to an architectural design process, leading to better organization and satisfaction of the needs of the inhabitants. Based on this information, the need to improve cultural and community facilities in Daule is addressed, proposing a concrete solution to promote development and social cohesion in the area.Item Diseño de un Complejo Residencial Interuniversitario en la Ciudad de Guayaquil(2024-12-01) ACOSTA ORTIZ JOSUÉ DAVIDThis project presents an architectural design proposal for a university residence in the city of Guayaquil, aimed at addressing the growing demand for safe and accessible housing for out-of-town students, strategically located near the city’s main educational institutions. The initial research included a historical analysis of university residences both internationally andnationally, highlighting their evolution and significance in the educational context. The need for theproject was justified through the identification of current issues, formulation of specific objectives, and acomprehensive study of the legal regulations governing this type of construction in Ecuador. To develop the design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies were applied, including surveys andinterviews with potential users and architectural professionals, to understand their expectations andneeds. Additionally, case studies of similar projects were analyzed to provide conceptual and technicalreferences. The analysis of the proposed site and its surroundings allowed for the creation of a SWOTanalysis, identifying the factors that influence the development and feasibility of the project. This comprehensive approach ensures that the proposal meets not only functional requirements but alsocontributes significantly to the quality of life of students and the urban fabric of the city.Item PROPUESTA DE UN CENTRO DE ACOGIDA PARA MUJERES VICTÍMAS DE VIOLENCIA PARA LACIUDAD DE MACHALA, SECTOR LA CAROLINA.(2024-12-01) ALESSIA VALERIA AVILA CHERREZThe design of a shelter for women who are victims of violence is an architectural challenge that requires creating a space that provides safety, privacy, and a conducive environment for emotional recovery. My proposal integrates therapeutic design principles through gardens that play a fundamental role in the restorative experience of residents. Inspired by biophilic design concepts, these gardens serve not only as areas for recreation and relaxation but also facilitate therapeutic activities, such as horticulture and nature contemplation. The arrangement of outdoor and indoor spaces has been carefully planned to offer a gradual journey of connection with nature, from more open and social areas to private corners for personal reflection. This innovative approach goes beyond meeting physical needs: it seeks to create a refuge that fosters resilience and emotional well-being. The center includes communal areas, such as psychological support rooms and training classrooms, which facilitate the women’s social reintegration and promote selfsufficiency. Every component of the design is intended to create an environment where residents can rebuild their lives in a safe and nurturing setting. Overall, the center’s design aims to serve as a model for social architecture, where the interaction between spaces and the natural landscape contributes to the comprehensive process of recovery and emotional strengthening of women.Item PROPUESTA DE UN CENTRO ONCOPEDIÁTRICO EN LA PARROQUIA LA PUNTILLA(2024-12-01) CARRILLO ESPINOSA VALENTINA SOLANGEvCancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in Ecuador, affecting both adults and children. Despite its increasing prevalence, the country lacks adequate infrastructure for the comprehensive care of pediatric oncology patients, limiting access to specialized services and impacting the well-being of affected children and their families. This project proposes the design of a pediatric oncology center that prioritizes the creation of a humanized and welcoming environment. The design incorporates biophilic architecture principles, integrating natural elements and spaces that promote a connection with the environment, which are essential for the emotional and psychological well-being of patients. These spaces are complemented by recreational areas that encourage play and social interaction, balancing clinical requirements with an atmosphere that fosters hope and resilience. This design goes beyond functionality, providing an environment that supports patient recovery through a holistic approach. By prioritizing emotional well-being and interaction with nature, this project presents an innovative and necessary solution to address the challenges of pediatric cancer care in Ecuador. (Carmona Valdez & Ribeiro Ferreira, 2010).Item Hostería ecoturística en armonía con el entonro natural en Ventura, Cañar.(2024-12-01) BAHAMONDE MALDONADO ANA PAULAEcuador, despite its vast cultural and natural diversity, faces significant challenges in developing its tourism sector due to factors such as inadequate infrastructure, insecurity, and an unfavorable business environment. The canton of Cañar, located in the province of Cañar, exemplifies how these limitations hinder local tourism. Despite its rich landscapes and pristine rivers, Cañar has not managed to position itself as a prominent tourist destination in the country, primarily due to the lack of sustainable hotel infrastructure and adequate tourism services. The Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) highlights Ecuador's low tourism competitiveness, a situation mirrored in Cañar. Although it is a safe location with high ecotourism potential, the absence of investment in hotel infrastructure and a focus on sustainability restricts its tourism potential. Local studies indicate that, despite being perceived as a safe destination, the limited supply of eco-friendly hotels hampers tourism growth, negatively impacting the local economy, cultural promotion, and environmental conservation. In this context, the creation of an eco-tourism lodge emerges as a critical strategy to overcome these barriers and promote sustainable tourism. This project proposes designing a lodge that integrates harmoniously with Cañar's natural surroundings, utilizing sustainable materials and creating architectural spaces that take advantage of natural views while minimizing environmental impact.Item CENTRO DE APRENDIZAJE, CULTURA Y RECREACIÓN COMO AGENTE DE CAMBIO SOCIAL PARA LA CIUDAD DE GUAYAQUIL(2024-12-01) CARCELEN VASCONEZ BILLY JOSUECurrently, Ecuador is facing a crisis affecting multiple areas, with education being one of them, as it directly relates to the behavior of the country’s children and adolescents. This thesis focuses on the design and development of a Learning, Culture, and Recreation Center in the city of Guayaquil. The research addresses the creation of a cultural center that integrates various spaces for recreation and culture, including a public library. The objective of this facility is to promote community development and social cohesion to strengthen culture. The project is based on the importance of universal accessibility, ensuring that all people, regardless of their abilities, can enjoy and benefit from the facilities. An inclusive design is proposed, eliminating physical barriers and facilitating access for all users. Additionally, the concept of playful architecture is explored, incorporating elements that encourage interaction, creativity, and learning through play. This approach aims to create a dynamic and stimulating environment that attracts different community groups. Furthermore, the positive impact that a well-designed cultural center can have on the revitalization and development of a community environment is analyzed, providing a space where citizens can access educational, cultural, and recreational resources. This project is expected not only to improve the quality of life of Guayaquil’s residents but also to serve as a model of inclusive and sustainable architecture for similar future initiatives in other cities.
