Abstract
This study analyzes the effectiveness of cooperative learning strategies to improve reading comprehension in third-grade students at the "Abraham Lincoln" School in Quito, Ecuador. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, applying participant observation, interviews, and document analysis to a sample of 30 students. The results suggest that cooperative learning fosters positive attitudes towards reading, enhances comprehension, motivation, and social interactions. It is concluded that these strategies can be an effective alternative to boost reading comprehension in this context.

Este estudio analiza la efectividad de estrategias de aprendizaje cooperativo para mejorar la comprensión lectora en estudiantes de tercer grado de la Escuela "Abraham Lincoln" en Quito, Ecuador. Se empleó un enfoque cualitativo con diseño de estudio de caso, aplicando observación participante, entrevistas y análisis documental a una muestra de 30 estudiantes. Los resultados sugieren que el aprendizaje cooperativo fomenta actitudes positivas hacia la lectura, mejora la comprensión, la motivación y las interacciones sociales. Se concluye que estas estrategias pueden ser una alternativa efectiva para potenciar la comprensión lectora en este contexto.
