Abstract
The objective of this work is to explore how the family environment influences the academic performance of 5th grade EGB students of the "Manuel Coello Peñaherrera" Educational Unit, in this study it is intended to corroborate the factors of the family environment that affect the student's academic performance. This research was developed with a mixed approach, the data collection was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively, with a sample of twenty-five students of the 5th grade EGB, in addition to the participation of the representatives and the support of the staff of the educational institution. The results obtained show that the participation of the family, mainly of the parents in the educational institution, in addition to the attention to their children, propitiate a good family environment that exerts a direct and positive influence on the academic performance of the students.

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo explorar como el ambiente familiar influye en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de 5to grado de EGB de la Unidad Educativa "Manuel Coello Peñaherrera", en este estudio se pretende corroborar los factores del ambiente familiar que afectan en el rendimiento académico del estudiante. Se desarrollo esta indagación con un enfoque mixto, la recolección de datos se realizó de forma cuantitativa y cualitativa, contando con una muestra de veinticinco estudiantes del 5to grado EGB, además se contó con la participación de los representantes y el apoyo del personal de la institución educativa. Los resultados obtenidos nos muestran que la participación de la familia, principalmente de los padres en la institución educativa, además de la atención a sus hijos, propician un buen ambiente familiar que ejercen una influencia directa y positiva en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes.
