EL IMPACTO DE LA EDUCACIÓN INTERCULTURAL BILINGÜE EN LOS ESTUDIANTES DE DÉCIMO AÑO DE LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA COMUNITARIA INTERCULTURAL BILINGÜE MUSHUK YACHAY

Abstract

Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE) has been a key issue in Ecuador for the past five years, focused on improving inclusion, equity, and the preservation of indigenous languages and cultures, considering the cultural diversity of the country. The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of IBE on tenth-grade students at the Mushuk Yachay Intercultural Bilingual Community Education Unit, taking into account the cultural diversity of the institution, with indigenous, mestizo, and foreign students, and seeks to understand its impact on academic development, cultural identity, and social integration. To do so, a mixed approach will be used, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, to obtain accurate and objective information. Through this research, I hope to demonstrate that Intercultural Bilingual Education at the Mushuk Yachay Educational Unit helps improve the learning of tenth-grade students, allowing them to better understand the content and strengthen their cultural identity. It will also allow us to find out whether this educational model facilitates the development of skills in two languages and whether teachers and managers value its importance in education. However, there may be some challenges, such as the lack of materials in the mother tongue and the need for more training for teachers. In the end, this research will reveal the benefits and difficulties of Intercultural Bilingual Education and will propose improvements to make this educational model more effective in the future.
