ANÁLISIS DE LAS POLÍTICAS PÚBLICA DE TURISMO EN GALÁPAGOS Y SU INCIDENCIA EN EL DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE

Abstract

The objective of the study is to analyze public tourism policies in the Galapagos and their impact on sustainable development. The theoretical conception of the study is based on the theory of the 17 sustainable development objectives proposed by the UN. On the other hand, the methodological approach is quantitative, since a survey was applied to 274 officials of public institutions, representatives of tour operators and non-profit organizations linked to the subject. The result was that 27% expressed that they think that tourism policies do not promote the economic well-being of local communities. 38.9% agree that public tourism policies are correctly designed to promote development, while 18% disagree that the policies consider sustainable development and between 29% who marked the neutral option and 13.5% disagree that the authorities are committed to compliance in the protection of the environment. Therefore, it is concluded that sustainable tourism development seeks balance in the three key dimensions: environment, economy and society, while the political sector is a relevant pillar for the development of sustainable projects, through government programs that are oriented to obtain sustainable tourism development.
