Abstract
The city of Guayaquil, specifically the city center, has an extensive history that over the years has been forgotten bythe majority of its citizens and this is reflected in how Guayaquileños treat the different existing spaces; as are the cityarcades. Currently, the Porticoes of the historic center are going through a difficult time; most citizens are not awareof the architectural heritage that exists in the city, for that reason they neglect the Soportales, using them in aninappropriate way or simply not taking care of them; adding to that, the problem of lack of public spaces and greenareas in the city center. In this way, the study of Soportales and the creation of criteria that provide strategies forimproving spaces could be carried out. All this with the use of qualitative and quantitative tools that allow us to knowthe needs of citizens. Based on this, the connectivity proposal of Soportales is supported, through the creation ofsquares and pedestrian streets that favor the citizens, commerce and tourism of the city; as well as managing to changethe urban image of the city of Guayaquil.

a ciudad de Guayaquil, específicamente el centro de la ciudad, cuenta con una extensa historia que con el pasar delos años ha sido olvidada por la mayoría de sus ciudadanos y esto se ve reflejado en como los guayaquileños tratan losdiferentes espacios existentes; como lo son los Soportales de la ciudad. En la actualidad los Soportales del Cascohistórico pasan por un momento duro; la mayoría de los ciudadanos no son conscientes del patrimonio arquitectónicoque existe en la ciudad, por esa razón descuidan los Soportales utilizandolos de una manera inadecuada o simplementeno cuidandolos; a eso sumando el problema de falta de espacios públicos y áreas verdes en el centro de la ciudad. Deesa manera, se pudo llevar a cabo el estudio de Soportales y la creación de criterios que brinden estrategias para lamejora de espacios. Todo esto con el uso de herramientas cualitativas y cuantitativas que permiten conocer lanecesidad de los ciudadanos. En base a esto se sustenta la propuesta de conectividad de Soportales, mediante lacreación de Plazas y calles peatonales que favorezcan a los ciudadanos, al comercio y al turismo de la ciudad; así comolograr cambiar la imagen urbana de la ciudad de Guayaquil.
