This study explored the behavioral factors that influence teacher resistance to the incorporation of educational technologies in a rural school in Ecuador. Research was conducted with a mixed methodological design, interviewing 9 teachers and 25 students aged 11 to 15. Lack of training, traditional pedagogical beliefs and risk perception were identified as major obstacles, in addition to a lack of institutional support and a school culture that is not very collaborative. The results suggest that teacher resistance is deeply rooted in an institutional context which restricts innovation, this indicates that it is essential to implement continuing training programmes, strengthen institutional leadership and foster a culture of collaboration. In conclusion, to overcome these barriers in rural schools, a comprehensive approach is needed that encourages innovation and continuous professional development of teachers, and creates an environment conducive to the integration of educational technologies.
