| dc.description | La presente investigación se centra en la propuesta de diseño de un nuevo Centro de Alojamiento para Pacientes de SOLCA en Guayaquil, complementada con una remodelación de las instalaciones actuales. Este enfoque busca responder a las crecientes necesidades de pacientes oncológicos y sus familias, quienes enfrentan limitaciones de espacio, accesibilidad reducida y condiciones estructurales deterioradas en el alojamiento existente. El objetivo principal es diseñar un espacio integral que no solo amplíe la capacidad de atención, sino que también garantice confort, funcionalidad y accesibilidad universal. Para ello, se empleó una metodología que combina investigación documental, análisis de casos de referencia y herramientas participativas, como entrevistas con especialistas en diversas disciplinas y talleres con usuarios del centro. La propuesta incluye la creación de un nuevo centro con espacios adaptados a las necesidades identificadas, integrando principios de neuroarquitectura, sostenibilidad y diseño biofílico. Además, se plantean mejoras en la infraestructura existente, enfocadas en optimizar la distribución de áreas, la calidad ambiental y la experiencia de los usuarios. Como resultado, se espera proporcionar un entorno que promueva el bienestar físico y emocional de los pacientes, facilite su proceso de tratamiento y fortalezca la imagen institucional de SOLCA como líder en atención oncológica integral. | dc.description.abstract | This research focuses on the design proposal for a new Accommodation Center for SOLCA Patients in Guayaquil, complemented by a remodeling of the existing facilities. This approach seeks to address the growing needs of oncology patients and their families, who face limitations in space, reduced accessibility, and deteriorated structural conditions in the current accommodation. The main objective is to design an integral space that not only expands the center’s capacity but also ensures comfort, functionality, and universal accessibility. To achieve this, the methodology combines documentary research, case study analysis, and participatory tools, such as interviews with specialists from various disciplines and workshops with center users. The proposal includes creating a new center with spaces adapted to the identified needs, incorporating principles of sustainability and biophilic design. Additionally, improvements to the existing infrastructure are proposed, focusing on optimizing the distribution of areas, environmental quality, and user experience. As a result, the aim is to provide an environment that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of patients, facilitates their treatment process, and strengthens SOLCA’s institutional image as a leader in comprehensive oncology care. This project is presented as a replicable model that addresses current public health and architectural demands in Ecuador. | |
