| dc.description | La tendencia actual a la desinstitucionalización de pacientes con diagnósticos de enfermedades mentales ha influido en el incremento de familiares que son cuidadores de estos pacientes. El afrontamiento del cuidador de un familiar con enfermedad mental produce afectaciones en los niveles de estrés, de envejecimiento y de calidad de vida debido a la sobrecarga que experimentan. Se presenta una afectación psicológica en los cuidadores debido al desgaste anímico involucrado en el proceso, tanto por la duración de la enfermedad, como por la complejidad que presenta. La falta de redes de apoyo familiar, el tiempo de duración de la enfermedad, así como el tipo de diagnóstico influye en el nivel de sobrecarga. Esta investigación busca determinar el nivel de sobrecarga que presenta un grupo de cuidadores de pacientes que padecen de enfermedades mentales y que se encuentran recibiendo tratamiento intrahospitalario en un Instituto Psiquiátrico de la ciudad de Guayaquil; además, establecer la relación presente entre el nivel de sobrecarga con el tiempo de enfermedad y con el tipo de diagnóstico. Para realizar esta investigación se utilizó la escala de sobrecarga de Zarit y una entrevista para detrminar el diagnóstico del paciente y tiempo de enfermedad. Se encontró que efectivamente existe una sobrecarga intensa en los familiares y que el diagnóstico que más afectó a los evaluados fue el de esquizofrenia. | es |
| dc.description.abstract | The current trend towards the deinstitutionalization of patients with diagnoses of mental illness has influenced the increase of relatives who are caregivers of these types of patients. Dealing with a family member that has a mental illness causes side effects such as stress, aging, and anger those that lead to burnout in caregivers. There is a psychological affection in the caregivers due to the process; it depends on the duration of the disease, and the complexity it presents. The lack of family support networks, duration of illness, as well as type of diagnosis influences the level of burnout. This research aims to determine the level of overload that presents a group of caregivers of patients suffering from mental illness and who are hospitalized in a Mental Institute in Guayaquil; in addition to establishing the present relationship between the level of overload and the time of illness and the type of diagnosis. In this investigation the Zarit Burden Interview was used to measure the overload in caregivers and also questions were asked to find out the length of the disease and the diagnosis of patients. It was found that the level of burden was intense and the most common diagnosis was schizophrenia. | es |
