The failure to pay child support in Ecuador is not only due to a failure in the exe-cution of judicial decisions, but also reflects a daily reality in which many chil-dren and adolescents do not receive the necessary resources for their subsistence in a timely manner, despite a previously established legal obligation. In this con-text, this paper aims to examine whether the mechanisms provided for in the legal system are truly effective in ensuring the timely payment of these obligations. The study is developed from a qualitative, dogmatic, and descriptive approach, through the normative analysis of the Constitution of Ecuador (CRE), the Com-prehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP), and the Code for Children and Ado-lescents (CONA), as well as a comparison with international and comparative standards. The results show that, despite the existence of enforcement and coer-cive measures, their application has limitations that reduce their effectiveness, al-lowing non-compliance to continue and weakening the effective judicial protec-tion of children and adolescents.
