The intention of this academic article is to analyze the parameters that must be considered to strengthen the tactical means of the Coast Guard Command (COGUAR), through the use of tools such as the survey and interview to prepare a proposal for the implementation of drones in order to improve maritime security in the Gulf of Guayaquil. For this, the review of theoretical articles that deal with innovation issues of unmanned tactical means, doctrinal manuals of the Ecuadorian Navy and current national regulations in search engines such as Google Scholar, Navy Repository, among others, were used. The main result of the observation instruments such as surveys and interviews were obtained that the operational capacities of the COGUAR tactical means for the fulfillment of maritime operations are efficient for the detection and location of contacts in favorable operational environments, but not for the search. of information in situ, evidencing shortcomings in terms of this type of capacity that would help in the process of surveillance, recognition and decision making. Finally, it is concluded that the use of drones on board the small COGUAR vessels will allow strengthening the tactical means for the fulfillment of maritime operations in the sector of the Gulf of Guayaquil, since its versatility, geopositioning, detection, location and identification of contacts, will contribute to the mitigation of illegal activities and consequently the strengthening of maritime security.
