Abstract
This paper, using the inductive method, examines the possibility of the consent to plead guilty in the abbreviated procedure in the Ecuadorian criminal system. Thus, it analyzes the main criteria that support the possibility that the acceptance of guilt may result in an incomplete and unfair judicial process. It is concluded that the consent to plead guilty in the abbreviated procedure presents significant legal and ethical tensions in the Ecuadorian criminal system, and it is crucial to ensure that defendants have a comprehensive understanding of their rights and legal options before making decisions regarding the consent to guilt. Appropriate
safeguards should be implemented to prevent coercion and ensure that the decision-making process is voluntary and based on accurate information.
