Resumen : Burnout syndrome tends to affect professionals who work in an interactive way for the wellbeing of other people, with relative frequency and with a variety of consequences, counting among them those who work within the health sector, at hospitals. Both doctors and nurses face constant work pressure and tend to experience this situation, responsible at times for the changes in attitude and lack of motivation they feel towards their jobs. The purpose of this job is to demonstrate the effects chronic occupational stress has on this professional group and how it affects their quality of life. Being a theoretical review paper, it has been done based on an extensive literature review of related articles and studies, published by a variety of scientific magazines or by universities or hospitals. The basics of the burnout syndrome have been compiled, and its causes, manifestations and consequences have been analyzed, in order to be able to recognize its impact on the wellbeing and the performance of the health professionals; pretending to point out to those organizations that offer health services, about the importance that both burnout syndrome management and prevention have. Finally, this job confirms the negative effect the syndrome has on the quality of life on those who suffer it, and consequently on the quality of service they do offer
Descripción : El síndrome de burnout o de desgaste profesional suele afectar con relativa frecuencia y con diversas consecuencias a los profesionales que trabajan de manera interactiva por el bienestar de otras personas, contándose entre ellos al personal del sector de la salud que trabaja en hospitales. Los médicos y las enfermeras enfrentan constante tensión laboral y suelen experimentar esta problemática, responsable en ocasiones de los cambios de actitud y la desmotivación que los mismos sienten hacia su trabajo. El propósito de este trabajo es demostrar los efectos del estrés laboral crónico en este grupo de profesionales y cómo afecta a su calidad de vida. Por tratarse de una revisión teórica, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de artículos y estudios relacionados, publicados en diversas revistas científicas o por universidades u hospitales. Se han recopilando los conceptos generales del síndrome, analizando sus principales causas, manifestaciones y consecuencias, a fin de poder reconocer su impacto en el bienestar y desempeño de los profesionales del sector de la salud; pretendiendo hacer notar la importancia que tienen tanto el manejo como la prevención del síndrome en su personal.
