DIFUSIÓN DE LA PROBLEMÁTICA DEL TRABAJO INFANTIL Y ADOLESCENTE EN LOS MEDIOS ESCRITOS EN ECUADOR

Abstract

The present graduation Project studies the existing diffusion of the problematic of child and adolescent labor on the print media in Ecuador. To meet the objectives of describing quantitatively and qualitatively the diffusion it was carried out a monitoring for two months of Diario El Universo, El Comercio and El Telegrafo, which combined with interviews with subject specialists and journalists also served to determine the importance of proper dissemination of the topic. The research results showed that the publication of news related to the topic of child and adolescent labor is scarce and superficial. It shows merely circumstantial facts and does not seek to explain causes and consequences. If the media did not adequately informs, the public will not 4 know the magnitude of child and adolescent labor nor how they can contribute to its decrease. That is why we need the existence of trained journalists to address issues of vulnerable groups, as are infants and young workers. Also, the print media should have an editorial policy that encourages research and accurate publication of these themes.
