PREVALENCIA DE SINTOMATOLOGÍA MUSCULOESQUELÉTICA EN TRABAJADORES QUE REALIZAN LABORES DE PALETIZADO MANUAL EN HACIENDAS DE BANANO DEL CANTÓN EL GUABO

Abstract

The present study identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in the manual palletizing position in the banana farms of the Guabo city, the design is of a descriptive and cross-sectional type. The total population is 30 palletizers, between 22 to 38 years. The Nordic standardized questionnaire was used and ISO 11228-1 standard was applied. The results indicate that 80% of the population manifests pain or discomfort in the lower back, 51% manifested pain or discomfort in the wrists, 43% showed discomfort in the neck, 37% manifested annoying in the shoulders; and, 31% manifest diseases in the elbows. Through the application of ISO 11228-1 the conditions of the workplace were evaluated and a critical condition could be determined because the vertical distance is grater tan 175 cm at the time of lifting the load. It is recommended to redesign the position of work mainly and additionally to implement training programs to improve the lifting and type of grip, as well as to establish breaks during the task.
