REFUGIO TEMPORAL PARA PERSONAS EN SITUACIÓN DE CALLE EN LA CIUDAD DE GUAYAQUIL

Abstract

The present project covers a social problem that afflicts the city of Guayaquil. The case study is the social reality of people in street situations in the city. By means of the investigation of this problem, architectural solutions were proposed that will generate a dignified space where these people can spend the night sheltered from the cold and the dangers. At present, there are diurnal centers that receive people in street situations during the day and offer them breakfast, lunch and recreation activities; as there are also permanent homes for the elderly. The problem is that most of the people who spend the night in the street do not want to enter a permanent home because they feel that they lose their freedom since they do not have a family member responsible for them who can visit and take them out for a walk on weekends, and in case of presenting addictive behavior they lose access to the substances they consume. In the case of diurnal centers these close their attention in the afternoon and people must return to the sidewalks of the city to spend the night. The problem not only addresses the human factor and the violated rights of these people to a decent place to stay, also addresses the quality of urban space and what this social reality represents in that area; considering the image of the city, the insecurity and the surplus value of the areas that are affected by this situation. The architectural solution presented is a building with spaces that cover the needs of food, hygiene, rest, medical and psychological care, as well as free laundry for its users. The identity of the project is an envelope of cardboard structure inspired by the work of Japanese architect Shigeru Ban “Pavilion of Japan 2000”
