| Resumen : | The study of sexual health supports a correlation between sexual self-consciousness and sexual situations, for which the Sexual Self Consciousness Scale (SSCS) is used, an instrument that distinguishes dimensions of embarrassment and sexual focus. At present, the tool is validated and adapted to Spanish, being applied in Ecuadorian women. The objective is to contrast the dimensions of sexual self-consciousness, in the masculine and feminine gender, with the translated version of the SSCS, to recognize people's attitudes towards sexual situations. The methodology used is quantitative, with confirmatory research and cross-sectional design; the sample is 121 Ecuadorian participants between 18 and 25 years old. In conclusion, it was possible to determine that both genders have the same percentage of sexual activity and do not present a burden of embarrassment in their relationships. | Descripción : | El estudio de la salud sexual respalda una correlación entre la autoconciencia sexual y las situaciones sexuales, por lo cual se utiliza el Sexual Self Consciousness Scale (SSCS), un instrumento que distingue dimensiones de vergüenza y enfoque sexual. En la actualidad, la herramienta está validada y adaptada al español, siendo aplicada en mujeres ecuatorianas. El objetivo es contrastar las dimensiones de autoconciencia sexual, en el género masculino y femenino, con la versión traducida del SSCS, para reconocer las actitudes de las personas frente a situaciones sexuales. La metodología utilizada es cuantitativa, con investigación confirmatoria y diseño transversal, la muestra es de 121 participantes ecuatorianos entre 18 y 25 años. Como conclusión se pudo determinar que ambos géneros tienen un mismo porcentaje de actividad sexual y no presentan carga de vergüenza en sus relaciones.
